Essential commodities importers countrywide urged Trade Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena to take steps to release 1,000 containers of essential goods now stranded in the Colombo Port. Members of the Essential Commodity Importers Association met Gunawardena at the Ministry yesterday.
The importers addressed their difficulties to the Minister, who said that appropriate actions will be made to fix the matter swiftly and that additional procedures will be taken to ensure that the items are delivered to the client without a shortage occurring.
