The bullish run at the Colombo Stock Exchange extended for the second consecutive day on Thursday (22) with the benchmark index ones again surpassing the 10,000 points on a relatively higher turnover with continued foreign exits.
The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI), which started the day at 9,913.22 points, gained 0.89 per cent (87.97 points) to close at 10,001.19 points.
The S&P SL20 index representing the top 20 traded shares at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), which started at 3,199.94 points, gained 0.98 per cent (31.28 points) to close at 3,231.22 points.
The daily turnover at the CSE on Thursday (22) stood at Rs 4.1 billion, lower than Rs 4.6 billion recorded the previous day.
The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign inflow worth Rs 324 million as foreigners purchased shares worth Rs 357 million, as against sales worth Rs 33 million.
More than 147 million shares changed hands on Thursday (22) during 36,471 trades that took place.
Shares of more than 263 companies were traded during the day, with 107 losers and winners.
Top ten gainers during the day were: Cargo Boat, Tea Smallholders, Eastern Merchant, Asia Siyaka, Galle Face Capital Partners, Ceylon Tea Brokers, Swisstek, Lake House Printers, Lankem Ceylon and Tess Agro (non-voting).
Top losers were: Radinat Gems, Pegasus Hotels, First Capital Treasuries, Mercantile Shipping, Chemanex, Beruwela Resorts, Mullers and Phipps, Vidullanka (non-voting), Mahaweli Coconut Plantations and Asia Asset.
