The chief inspection officer of the Anuradhapura District Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) office, D.S. Perera said they had collected of Rs. 3.8 million during the past eight month period this year.
He stated that this sum had been collected via fines imposed for violations such as selling rice, eggs, chicken and building materials exceeding the maximum retail price.
According to him, 231 individuals had been fined for the aforesaid offences.
