Parents should supervise children engaging in online education as they could become victims of child abuse, Paediatric Specialist Dr. Deepal Perera warned.
Dr. Perera when contacted yesterday (21) also said children addicted to mobile phones and following online education could become obese, contract NCDs, vitamin D and calcium deficiencies due to lack of sports activities and less exposure to the sun.
In addition, they could fall victim to child abusers and be exposed to porn sites as well. “Therefore, close supervision of children using mobile phones to play video games, watch cartoons in addition to following online studies was paramount to prevent them from being used by others,” he observed.
