Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa returned to social media, after the Sri Lanka men’s cricket team won the Asia Cup 2022, cricket championship, beating Pakistan in the final on Sunday (11).
The last time he took to social media was to express his condolences on the death of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe on 8 July.
Rajapaksa went off social media when he fled the country in July following massive people’s protests against his conduct.
The former President who returned to the country from Thailand recently, took to Twitter and Facebook to congratulate the Sri Lankan men’s cricket team.
“Congratulations to the Sri Lanka cricket team on the win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2020 Final in Dubai. The commitment and teamwork shown by the Sri Lankan team have been remarkable,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the comments section on the former President’s official Facebook page, which was earlier blocked in May is now open.
