September 19th has been declared a special holiday for all government institutions, in view of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The late Queen passed away on 8 September at the age of 96 at Balmoral, after reigning for 70 years. The state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe issued directives to the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs to declare 19 September a day of mourning in view of her passing away and requested state offices to hoist the national flag at half-mast until said date.
He will be travelling to the United Kingdom to attend the funeral.
