Sri Lanka’s national cricket team which was crowned the Men’s Asia Cup 2022 Champions and Netball Asian Champs will be paraded from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to Colombo at 6.30 am tomorrow (13).
“Let’s line the streets to welcome them,” President’s Media Division said.
The grand welcome for the cricket champions has been organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Dialog Axiata PLC, the official national team sponsor of SLC.
The team, led by Captain Dasun Shanaka, will arrive in the country at 04.45 am and will be welcomed by Sri Lanka Cricket at the airport in the presence of the Sport Ministry officials.
The Director General of the Ministry, Amal Edirisooriya, and the Honorary Vice President of International Cricket of Sri Lanka Cricket, Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, will be among the officials present.
Following the welcome ceremony at the airport, the team will take part in a victory parade, which will be conducted along the normal route of Colombo–Katunayake.
The players will board a double-decker bus from the airport to take part in the parade, whilst the team will engage with the fans on their way to Colombo.
SLC has invited fans to gather in order to wish the country’s cricketing heroes, who have won the Men’s Asia Cup 2022 after eight years.
This is the 6th occasion on which Sri Lanka has clinched the title.
