Bhutan hammer Sri Lanka 5-0

Sri Lanka lasses kicked off their SAFF Championship 2022 campaign in the worst possible manner when they were hammered 5-0 at the hands of Bhutan on Friday at the Dasrath Stadium, Nepal.

Namgyel Dema put the Bhutan lasses ahead with her 42nd minute strike to stun the Lankan lasses and doubled their lead in the 50th minute when a poor a clearance by the Sri Lankan defence saw the ball fall straight at the feet of Deki Lhazom, who slotted home to go up 2-0 at the half way mark.

Sri Lanka lasses were never seen in the game as they kept losing possession, and poor defending saw another goal gifted when Bhutan were awarded a penalty, which was calmly converted by Deki Lhazom in the 64th minute.

With 10 minutes of play left, Bhutan added two more goals to the tally from the boots of Tshering Lhaden and Galey Wangmo to further rub salt to Sri Lankan wounds.
