Taxila beat Sri Sumangala to emerge champs

Taxila Central College Horana beat Sri Sumangala College Hikkaduwa on the first inning to emerge champions of the Under 15 Division Two inter schools cricket tournament played at Ananda Shashthrala ground Beddagana yesterday.

Taxila won the toss and elected to field. Sri Sumangala were bowled out for a paltry 81 runs in 31 overs. Resandu Sanuth right arm off spinner claimed 4 wickets for 1 run and Nawanjana Deemanatha claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs.

 In reply, Taxila scored 244 runs for 9 wickets in 49 runs. Kushan Theekshana (62), Nawanjana Deemanatha (43), Ridma Shashikirana (33), Omalika Amarasinghe (28), Tenusha Thathsara (22) and Samith Shavinda (15) helped to build their innings.

 Sri Sumangala had scored 82/4 wickets in 22 overs in their second innings at close. Kaushalya Saranga scored an unbeaten 30 runs.
