SLIIT signs a historic MoU with India’s IIT


The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India (IITM) and SLIIT entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance mutual interests in the fields of education and research, to open up new study pathways for students and to contribute to increased international cooperation among nations.   

By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, SLIIT and IITM have agreed to collaborate in the areas of teaching, research and development, and consultancy studies; providing opportunities for cultural and intellectual enrichment for both staff as well as for students; and similarly in promoting the exchange of programmes designed for the mutual benefit of both institutions. On behalf of SLIIT, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice-Chancellor, SLIIT, Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, Deputy Vice-Chancellor SLIIT and Prof. Pradeep Abeygunawardhana were present at the MOU signing ceremony while Prof. Raghunathan Rengaswamy, Dean Global Engagement, and Prof. Preethi represented IITM. 

Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice-Chancellor of SLIIT, stated, “It is a great pleasure and honour to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between SLIIT and IITM, a well-renowned education institution in India.  This marks the formalisation of a true partnership that will integrate and enhance the development of relevant fields of higher education, as well as help nurture more local talent in multiple disciplines, opening up new opportunities. I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey for their efforts in making this agreement a reality, and I wish the collaboration much success.” 

Sharing his thoughts on the event Prof. Raghu said, “IITM is looking forward to welcoming students and faculty from SLIIT to IIT Madras under various programmes. As the relationship strengthens, joint development of educational programs will be pursued”.
