Isipathana continue unbeaten run


Isipathana displayed fine running rugby to beat S. Thomas by 29 points to13 in their Dialog Knock Out rugby encounter worked off at Havelock Park on Friday.

At the short breather Isipathana led 22/6.

The Green Shirts scored 3 magnificent tries in the first half. The high quality of rugby with very good hands went into several phases.

Meanwhile, Thomians started off well but lost their rhythm midway. Their defence too collapsed when the Green Shirts started attacking.

Yehan Bulathsinghalage drew first blood in the 12th minute through a 35 metre penalty. The Green Shirts replied through a fine three quarter try by their centre, Rinesh Silva missed the conversion. Rinesh compensated for the miss when he reacted fast to a knock on by the Thomians to score a dandy try. Palith Mihsara added the extras to take a 15/3 lead.  Yehan Bulathsinghalage was on target with his second penalty kick to cut the deficit to 9 points. But the Green Shirts were unstoppable, and Soorya Dodangoda planted the third try. Palith Mihsara added the extras to take the short breather at 22/6.

After the turn around, M. Botheju scored for Isipathana, while M. Hakeem scored the Thomians’ solitary try.
