Shevon Daniel’s 155 puts SL on perfect track

Shevon Daniel scored a brilliant 155 runs before lunch on Day 3 to put Sri Lanka U-19 on a perfect track against England U19 in the ongoing 2nd Youth four-day Test in County Ground, Derby.

Resuming the third day at 203-2 with Shevon Daniel and Pawan Pathihraja at the crease, the visitors took major honours in the first session with a 160-run partnership for the third wicket.

Shevon was the hero and his 155 runs came off 237 deliveries and included 25 boundaries and a six.

On the other hand, Pawan Pathiraja played a passive role and scored 55 runs off 155 deliveries including 9 boundaries to put Sri Lanka in a commanding position.

Pawan’s was the first wicket to fall when he was caught behind off Benjamin Cliff to apply brakes to the Sri Lanka inning. Adding salt to the wound, the well-set Shevon Daniel too didn’t last long as Benjamin once again delivered with the ball to send Shevon back to the pavilion in the 83 rd over.

At lunch Sri Lanka were 307-4 with skipper Raveeen de Silva and Ranuda Somarathne at the crease.

Earlier, England scored 381 runs in the first inning with Matthew Hurst and Harry Singh scoring centuries.

Brief Scores at Lunch:

England: 381 all out (Harry Singh 104, Matthew Hurst 116, Raveen de Silva 2-56)

Sri Lanka: 307-4 (Shevon Daniel 155, Pawan Pathiraja 55, Benjamin Cliff 2-57)
