HDFC Bank promotes urban agriculture  


 The inauguration of the programme ‘A small step for a GREAT START’ organised by HDFC Bank Sri Lanka took place at the Hyde Park Corner branch recently, the Bank said.

 As a responsible financial institution in the country, the purpose of such an initiative was to promote urban agriculture and contribute to the community via knowledge-sharing and plant / seed distribution that may assist one another during these troubled times. The event was also broadcast live via the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of HDFC Bank Sri Lanka to allow a wider audience to join with the programme, the Bank added. 

 Chairman of HDFC Bank, Wasanthi Manchanayake, Chief Operating Officer A. J. Athukorala, DGM, Sudishna Perera, Regional  Manager, Nishantha Ranasinghe, Hyde Park Corner Branch Manager, Amal Kiriella along with invitees from the Department of Agriculture, District Agriculture Consultant for the Western Province, Samitha Madushanka, Deputy Provincial Agricultural Director,  Samanmalee Fernando and Assistant Provincial Agricultural Director,  Subhashini Premaratne.

 The informative session by Samitha Madushanka on Low / No space agricultural techniques to support urban agriculture was certainly an eye opener for all participants, it further said.

 Chairperson Ms. Manchanayake said ‘The Bank for your Home’ looks forward to continuing the project with more sessions in future to assist our valued customers and all citizens of Sri Lanka.
