Govt reveals shares selling plan of SriLankan Airlines


The Ministry of Aviation has put forward proposals calling for investors to invest in 49% shares and administration of SriLankan Airlines Catering and Ground Handling.

Speaking at a special press conference today (29) regarding the restructuring of the airlines, Minister of Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva said the government will keep a 51% stake in the national carrier.

The Minister said the money received through the investment will be used to settle as much debts as possible.

He revealed that the total debt of Srilankan Airlines is USD 1.126 billion (Rs. 401 billion).
