17th Uva ‘Battle of the Golds’ ends in draw


Bandarawela St. Joseph’s took major honours in their drawn big match played at MRICS, Hambantota, recently. Chathum Lakpriya of Bandarawela Central College had a match bag of 10 wickets, with 5 wickets hauls in both innings. Lakpriya took 5/43 in the first innings and finished with 5/33 in the second, and his efforts won him the man of the match award.

Put into bat, St. Joseph’s posted 142 in their first innings and restricted Bandarawela CC to 91. Uthpala Lankathilaka grabbed 7/35. St. Joseph posted 99/5 declared in their second innings, but Bandarawela CC played it safe and were 66/2 when the match ended. However, St Joseph’s gained a first innings victory.
