The Colombo Stock Exchange posted gains on Friday (19) continuing to recover from its previous loses as the benchmark index gained on a modest turnover with continued foreign entry into the Colombo Bourse.
The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI), which started the day at 8,910.57 points, gained 0.73 per cent (65.18 points) to close at 8,975.75 points.
The S&P SL20 index representing the top 20 traded shares at the Colombo Stock Exchange, which started at 2,962.33 points, gained 0.05 per cent (1.62 points) to close at 2,963.95 points.
The daily turnover at the Colombo Stock Exchange on Friday (19) stood at Rs 3.15 billion, higher than Rs 2.7 billion a year ago.
The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign inflow worth Rs 41 million as foreigners purchased shares worth Rs 89 million, as against sales worth Rs 48 million.
More than 145.39 million shares changed hands on Friday (19) during 34,940 trades that took place.
Shares of more than 260 companies were traded during the day, of which 148 emerged as winners comfortably ahead of 70 losers.
