Nine petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court challenging certain clauses in the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

The relevant petitions were filed by nine citizens including the Secretary to the ‘Vinivida Peramuna’, Attorney-at-Law Nagananda Kodituwakku and Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, who pointed out that the 22nd Amendment violates the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
