Malayalam Movie Legend Mammootty in SL


Former Sri Lanka Cricket Captain Sanath Jayasuriya who was recently appointed as the Brand Ambassador of Sri Lanka Tourism said, veteran actor, film producer, distributor and playback singer, mainly starring in both arthouse and blockbuster films in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and English films, Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail, popularly known as Mammootty, is currently in Sri Lanka to film a movie.

Mammootty will be in the island for a few days and shooting is expected to be held in Kadugannawa, Kandy and other beautiful places in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has made the necessary shooting-arrangements in these locations.

Mammootty started his film debut in 1971, with AnubhavangalPaalichakal in Malayalam and has acted in more than 400 films so far, shining in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries for the past 35 years. He is a recipient of several awards in Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Three national awards, seven Kerala State Film awards and thirteen Filmfare awards in the South Indian Film Industry were among them. The Government of India honoured him with Padma Sri Award in recognition of his contribution to the Indian Film Industry.

Sanath Jayasuriya met the veteran movie starto discuss the possibilities of enhancing the tourism industry between Sri Lanka and India, including the predominantly naturally beautiful Kerala.

Jayasuriya said meeting the movie legend, Mammootty and holding friendly discussions with him was one of his happiest moments in his life and is ever willing to invite film stars and friends to visit Sri Lanka and view its pristine and natural tourist attractions.
