RCGC retain Burdett Trophy

The 119th edition of the Burdett Trophy held at the NEGC course last weekend ended in a thrilling finish, with both Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) and Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) winning 6 matches each, but by virtue of their last win, RCGC took home the trophy.

The tally now stands at 64 to RCGC and 37 to NEGC.

The teams comprised 12 players each, who played 4 foursome matches and 8 singles on the par 71 course which extends over 6,075 yards of challenging fairways.

The final match between Ranil Peiris (RCGC) and Manjula Chandrasoma (NEGC), which was played in semi darkness, was a close contest which went up to the 18th hole and ended in a tie.

Alongside this main event there was also the Ladies event played for the Puffins Cup (4 foursome matches and 4 single matches), Masters Golf tournament and 125th Anniversary competitions.
