Appointment not necessary to obtain DMT services

It is not mandatory to book an appointment to obtain services from the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT), Commissioner General of Motor Traffic Nishantha Weerasingha said.

He said services will be provided to everyone who comes to the department even without an appointment.

Weerasingha said he gave instructions to the department officials not to turn away any person who visit the department to obtain services.

The officials of all the branches of the department have been informed to report to work on all five days of the week. This decision was taken based on the complaints that some people who booked appointments have to face many problems owing to the absence of the officials, Weerasingha said.
