Super Knights CC emerge champions

Super Knights Chess Club emerged champion of the Sri Lanka National Team (Super League) Chess Championship 2022 on Sunday. The event was held from 10 to 14 August at New Chess Federation Headquarters, Torrington Square, Colombo 7. This premier club event was organised by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka.

Ten teams were selected and the event was held as a round-robin event comprising nine rounds. The standard time control was 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment from move 01.

Super Knights dominated the event from the beginning, losing only to SL Navy Chess Club. Anandians Chess Club was first runner-up and Kandyan Lions Chess Club second runner-up. Although Anandians Chess Club tied with Super Knights with equal match points, Super Knights won on the better tie breaker.

Anandians CC: C.M. Dinul Thisura Doluweera, Lahiru Munasinghe, Pasan Vindula Liyanapathirana, Thisura Munasinghe, C.M. Mojitha Sathsara Gunaratne, Shanaka Munasinghe and Chathulanka Gamage.

 Kandyan Lions: K.A.P.M. Ariyawansa, Manushka Yatawala, N.P.G. Sithija Lahiru, Achinthya Shamen Kaluarachchi, A.J.K.D. Bandara, Dhanushka Bandara, A.S. Galagamaarachchi and C.L. Jayaweera.
