Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris who was accused of forcibly entering the President’s House on 9 July has been released on bail.
The Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Division had informed the court to remand the suspect further.
However, Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage refused the request and released Rev. Fr. Peiris on two surety bails amounting to Rs. 500,000 each.
The Magistrate also issued an international travel ban on the activist.
Further, Rev. Fr. Peiris has been asked to appear before the Slave Island Police tomorrow (12) to record a statement.
