Roshan Weeraratne retires

Former Kingswood, Kandy SC, national sevens and XV a side player, Roshan Weeraratne announced his retirement from the sport with immediate effect, as he will be migrating to Ireland in the near future with his wife. 

One of the best scrum-halves produced by the Randles Hill School, he captained the team in his last year (2009). He was a loyal player and stuck to Kandy SC for 14 long years. He led Kandy twice in his career (2013/2014 and 2016/2017). He also led the club to win the League and Clifford Cup in his second stint as the skipper.

At Under-19 national level, he played under Niroshan Fernando touring Hong Kong for the Junior Asiad. He was chosen as the best scrum half in 2012 at club level, and 5 years later he led the National rugby outfit. Roshan also led the Commonwealth Trial event in the Under-24 segment.

He has toured Singapore, Monaco, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, China, Malaysia. Kazakhstan, Taipei and Philippines, and gone to New Zealand and South Africa for training.
