‘Mammootty’ to shoot film in Sri Lanka


Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail, known as Mammootty, who is a veteran actor, film producer, distributer, and playback singer, mainly starring in both art house and blockbuster films in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and English films, is expected to visit Sri Lanka for a film shoot by next week.

Mammootty made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the ‘Anubhavangal Paalichakal’ film and has acted in more than 400 films so far. He is a recipient of several awards in Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Three national awards, seven Kerala State Film awards, and thirteen Filmfare awards in the South Indian Film Industry were among them. The Indian Government honoured him with Padma Sri Award in recognition of his contribution to the Indian Film Industry.

Mammootty has been shining in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada film industries for the past 35 years since he entered the film industry in 1971.

The veteran actor is expected to stay in Sri Lanka for three days. The film shoot is expected to be held in Kandy, Kadugannawa, and some other areas. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) is expected to provide all assistance and support to shoot the film at aforesaid locations.

He will meet Tourism Minister Harin Fernando and former Sri Lanka Cricket Team Captain Sanath Jayasuriya. (NJ)
