JJB boycotts meeting with President

The Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) did not participate in yesterday (9), discussion with President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in protest against the Government’s repression, former MP Sunil Handunnetti said.

Holding a media briefing on 8 August, Handunnetti said that the party would meet the President to inform him of their stand on forming an All-party Government.

However, when Ceylon Today inquired yesterday (9), Handunnetti said that, instead of meeting the President, the party has decided to directly forward the proposals related to an All-party Government to the President.

“There is no sign of an end to the repression that is being carried out by the Government. Therefore, we decided to send a letter stating our stand on the current situation. It is the same thing even if we go and meet the President or forward a letter,” he said.

He added the contents of their letter will be released to the media soon.
