Bullish run continues for 8th day


The Colombo Stock Exchange continued its winning streak for the eight-consecutive session on Friday (5) as the benchmark index posted gains to reach a new more than 2-month high on a higher turnover despite continued foreign exits from the Colombo Bouse.

The benchmark All Share Price Index, which started the day at 8,229.14 points, gained 1.27 per cent (104.23 points) to close the day at 8,333.37 points.

The S&P SL20, which represents the top 20 traded shares on the Colombo Stock Exchange, which started the day at 2,677.67 points, gained 1.89 per cent (50.48 points) to close at 2,728.14 points.

The Colombo Stock Exchange saw a daily turnover of Rs 3.74 billion on Friday (5), lower than Rs 3.79 billion recorded the previous day.

The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign outflow worth Rs 266 million as foreigners sold shares worth Rs 316 million, as against sales worth Rs 50 million.

More than 101.9 million shares changed hands on Friday (5) during 30,441 trades that took place.

Shares of more than 240 companies were traded during the day, of which 110 emerged as losers ahead of 82 winners.
