The Colombo Stock Exchange continued its winning streak for the seventh consecutive session on Thursday (4) as the benchmark index posted gains to reach a more than 2-month high on a higher turnover despite continued foreign exits from the Colombo Bouse.
The benchmark All Share Price Index, which started the day at 8,080.14 points, gained 1.84 per cent (149 points) to close the day at 8,229.14 points.
The S&P SL20, which represents the top 20 traded shares on the Colombo Stock Exchange, which started the day at 2,586.05 points, gained 3.54 per cent (91.62 points) to close at 2,677.67 points.
The Colombo Stock Exchange saw a daily turnover of Rs 3.799 billion on Thursday (4), higher than Rs 2.67 billion recorded the previous day.
The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign outflow worth Rs 206 million as foreigners sold shares worth Rs 468 million, as against sales worth Rs 262 million.
More than 150 million shares changed hands on Thursday (4) during 32,658 trades that took place.
Shares of more than 243 companies were traded during the day, of which 118 emerged as winners ahead of 90 losers.
