Three-wheeler drivers oppose move

The All Island Three Wheeler Drivers’ Association strongly opposes getting their National Fuel Pass QR code through registration at Police stations.

President of the Association Lailith Dharmasekara noted that instead of going to Police stations, the drivers can register vehicles at the Passenger Transport Authority and the Provincial Secretariats. He added according to the law of the country Passenger Transport Authority has the power to take such responsibilities.

“Registration of three-wheelers was started during the time of the war against the LTTE for security purposes. That system is not necessary now,” he added.

Dharmasekara further said they accept the QR Code system and even suggest it would be better that if three-wheelers that engage in taxi services also can be registered under such method to bring the industry into a proper system with regulations.
