Nimal Siripala de Silva was sworn in today (2) as the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He was sworn in as a minister after the Presidential Committee appointed to investigate allegations of bribery against him had acquitted him of the charges.
In a recent Parliament session, Opposition leader MP Sajith Premadasa revealed that a Cabinet Minister had requested a bribe from a company named Taisei in Japan.
Following the revelation, then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa ordered an extensive inquiry against the Minister over the allegations.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva had to temporarily step down from the post until completion of the inquiry.
