Domestic LP gas cylinder prices, distributed by Litro Gas Lanka, will be reduced by 5 August 2022, in accordance with the pricing formula.
Litro Chairman Muditha Pieris said the price of a cylinder of gas will be reduced, in the near future, by a greater sum than the recent price increase. According to the global LP Gas price, the LP Gas price is expected to be reduced by 5 August.
“I am not going to give the exact price right now. But let me give you a hint. We will lower the price by more than the previous increase. We raised it by about Rs. 50. But we will definitely reduce it significantly more,” he said.
He continued, saying that 2 million LP gas cylinders were released to the market in July, and he assured that the LP gas shortage has been completely eliminated.
Peiris also said they are working to release 100,000 domestic gas cylinders to the market each day in order to ensure a continuous LP Gas supply to consumers.
On 11 July, Litro Gas Lanka raised the price of a 12.5kg cylinder of LP Gas by Rs 50. As a result, a 12.5kg cylinder of LP Gas nows cost Rs 4,910 within Colombo.
