The Cabinet has approved a proposal to immediately nullify the circular issued to grant state sector employees a holiday on Fridays.
Earlier this year in June, the Cabinet granted approval to close government offices on Fridays due to issues faced by state sector employees to find transport facilities due to the ongoing fuel shortage in the country. State sector employees were asked to engage in agricultural activities on Fridays instead as a solution to the imminent food scarcity.
The circular was issued on 15 June to be in effect for 3 months.
However, as public transport facilities are currently recovering, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the Prime Minister as the Minister of Public Administration to cancel the said circular with immediate effect.
