Devananda invites Tamil parties to join all-party Govt

Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) General Secretary and Minister Douglas Devananda yesterday (1) invited all Tamil political parties in Parliament to band together to rebuild the economy while ensuring the restoration of ordinary life for those affected by the economic crisis.

Minister Devananda said President Ranil Wickremesinghe believes that only through an all-party government can a solution to the current political and economic crisis be found and he also agreed to President Wickremesinghe’s invitation.

Devananda added that the EPDP will fully support President Wickremesinghe carry out his plans and  urged Tamil political parties to support the formation of an all-party government, to participate in it, and collaborate in developing plans to secure the rights, privileges, and aspirations of Tamils who had been victims of the thirty-year war.

“The time has come for all Tamil political parties to work together with caution to ensure the future and prosperity of the Tamil people. While welcoming the all-party government, making contradictory decisions and attempting to gain political mileage from the crisis appears to be politically victimising the Tamil community once again,” he said.
