TNA willing to back All-Party Government

TNA Spokesman, MP M.A. Sumanthiran said if the President is genuinely willing to form an All-Party Government, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will fully support it.

The MP said at a media briefing held at the TNA Vavuniya District Office that the only solution to all of the country’s problems, including the economic crisis, is an All-Party Government.

However, the MP added that forming an All-Party Government should be done honestly, and that all-party governments should not be formed to maintain more political advantages or power in their hands.

During the TNA’s discussions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe, he agreed to provide solutions to four of the main problems faced by the Tamil people, and the party also decided to support SLPP MP Dullas Alahapperuma in the election to find a replacement.

Sumanthiran also said it was due to the talk of intervening in the Tamil problems.

“The issue of missing persons during the war, the issue of Tamil exiles, stopping the seizure of land belonging to Tamils in the North by force, and providing a political solution to the ethnic question were not answered or resolved by any government,” he said.
