Shares continue to recover


The bullish run extended for the third consecutive session on Friday (29) as the benchmark index continued to recover on a relatively modest turnover with continued foreign entry into the Colombo Bourse.

The benchmark All Share Price Index, which started the day at 7,679.64 points on Friday (29), gained 0.67 per cent (51.51 points) to close the day at 7,731.15 points.

The S&P SL20, representing the top 20 companies traded on Colombo Bourse, which started at 2,429.88 points, gained 0.76 per cent (18.48 points) to close at 2,448.36 points.

The Colombo Stock Exchange saw a daily turnover of Rs 1.5 billion on Friday (29), higher than Rs 1.04 billion recorded the previous day.

The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign inflow worth Rs 7 million on Friday (29) as foreigners purchased shares worth Rs 30 million, as against sales worth Rs 23 million. 

More than 65 million shares changed hands on Friday (29) during 20,111trades that took place.

Shares of more than 246 companies were traded during the day, of which 110 emerged as winners ahead of 81 losers.
