Five youths were arrested in Nuwara Eliya on charges of forcibly entering the President’s House in Fort and damaging the premises on 9 July.
Police had obtained a warrant to arrest one of the suspects. When the Police visited that person’s house on Saturday (30), four other persons had been staying at the house. When they were interrogated, it was revealed they were also involved in the related charges, Police said.
When questioned further, the youths said they came to their friend’s house to hide, as arrests were being made in connection with entering and damaging the President’s House.
The suspects are residents of Bingiriya, Gothatuwa, Kalutara, and Nuwara Eliya.
