Five litres of fuel per week is not sufficient for three-wheelers that run on hire and there should be a separate registration policy to recognise such three-wheelers,All Island Three-Wheeler Drivers Association President, Lalith Dharmasekara stressed.
Dharmasekara said a minimum 30 litres of fuel should be given to three-wheeler owners per week.
He emphasised that three-wheelers should be regulated through the National Transport Commission (NTC) just as other public transport services are regulated.
He further said three-wheelers should have the ‘Taxi’ board and should continue to charge Rs100 for the first and second kilometre. This should be clearly displayed in the three-wheeler, he added.
