Claiming that “elderly MPs” should stay away from Parliament, Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) President, Gemunu Wijeratne requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to appoint five individuals who participated in the ‘Aragalaya’ to the House through the National List.
Speaking to Ceylon Today yesterday (31), he said it is the best way to form an All-Party Government at this juncture.
He added that young people should enter Parliament with their innovative ideas in an effort to participate in restoring the stability of the country.
“The President should remove the ‘elderly MPs’ from Parliament or they should resign from their seats of their own accord to assign young persons. Parliamentary seats should be replaced with youth power. They should be given responsibilities to restore the stability of the country,” Wijeratne suggested.
He said even if a General Election is held according to the present system, the youth will never be able to get elected to Parliament and claimed he also discussed said points with Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe for further support.
Wijeratne further said in his personal opinion, he would suggest Uvindu Wijeweera for one of the parliamentary seats.
