Dhaniz Ali further remanded


Dhaniz Ali, who forcibly entered the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation premises on 13 July, has been further remanded.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe issued the order to further remand Ali until 15 August.

The Magistrate also cancelled the identification parade which was scheduled for today.

A verdict on the bail application filed by Ali will be announced later this month.

Activist Dhaniz Ali, a 31-year-old resident of Webada, Kurunegala, stormed into the Rupavahini Corporation premises on 13 July with the intention of disrupting broadcasting operations.

He was arrested last week on board a flight at the Bandaranaike International Airport, while attempting to leave for Dubai.

Ali has been charged with disrupting broadcasting operations, damaging public property and assaulting security forces personnel.
