Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said, everyone, regardless of political affiliation, is invited to work together to form an All-Party Government.
He also said, the President will extend an invitation officially to all parties during the first session of Parliament.
The Prime Minister arrived in Kandy yesterday (31) and spoke to the media after receiving blessings at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
He said, he invites everyone to work with the Government to overcome the challenges that they are facing at present.
He also said the Emergency Law was enacted to ensure the safety of all parties and the establishment of peace in the country, as the Government treats all parties in the country with friendship and trust.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the President and he have begun a programme to inform and gain support from the international community, including ambassadors. He also emphasised that the Emergency Law is being implemented for the benefit of all citizens to establish law and order in the country.
He said as the functioning of the private sector, not just the Government, is the lifeblood of the country, there is no opportunity to engage in subversive activities or acts that are illegal. The Prime Minister stressed that as a Government that respects the Judiciary, it bows to Court decisions, and it respects anyone’s right to seek help from the Court if they believe they have been wronged.
Prime Minister Gunawardena also said he will listen to the voice of the youth and prepare the necessary course of action through Parliament.
