President won’t last long – Anura Kumara

Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s watch would cease soon.

He said the President should therefore reveal to the country, via his policy statement to Parliament, on 3 August, as to when he intends to step down from his current position.

Dissanayake observed that it was also the responsibility of the President to further clarify to the nation as to how long his present Government would be in office and when he intends to dissolve Parliament and call for a snap General Election.

Dissanayake stressed that any effort made by Wickremesinghe to remain in office indefinitely would result in him and his regime having to face the wrath of the public.

He charged that the present government is an ‘illegitimate government’ headed by a President elected by Parliament without a mandate.
