Passports of Ali, Kelum impounded

Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amerasinghe yesterday (28) impounded the passports of protesters Dhanish Ali and Kelum Amarasinghe. He gave this order, in consequence to the ongoing probe regarding the forced entry to SLRC studious and intimidating its workers and unlawful assembly, by a group of protesters, on 9 July.

The Magistrate imposed the foreign travel ban on the two suspects, based on submissions made to him by Cinnamon Gardens Police.

The Court ordered the two suspects, who are currently being remanded in connection with a separate case being heard before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, to be produced on 1 August.
