The Humanitarian Foundation’s National Emergency Programme distributed dry rations to 50 low-income families with members who had disabilities on 27 July. The programme commenced at 9 am and wound up at 12 pm at the main hall of the Kolonnawa Rajamaha Vihara.
The first phase was conducted to empower and improve the lives of persons with disabilities (infants, children, young adults) living in Sri Lanka through the implementation of sustainable programmes covering all 25 districts. The organising committee stated that under the ‘Break the Barrier Disability’ national project organised by the Humanitarian Foundation, medicine and other essentials will be distributed to low-income families of the disabled community in the future. Further shortcomings with regard to the community were also discussed during the distribution.
