SLTB to provide fuel to school vans, pvt buses

The Ministry of Education has decided to provide fuel facilities for school vans and private buses from the nearest Sri Lanka Transport Board depots.

Both, the CPC and the National Transport Commission had consented to this endeavour.

As a result of this measure the school vans and private buses will be supplied with fuel under a new streamlined programme on each Wednesday and Saturday of the week.

Meanwhile, a new private bus service, catering exclusively for the transport of students and teachers to schools daily, will be launched commencing 1 August.

A discussion had been held at the Ministry of Education to explore the possibility of implementing a new transport network for students countrywide to reach their schools sans a hassle, the Ministry of Education stated in a media release.

This particular discussion had been attended by subject Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha, Chairman of the SLTB Kingsley Ranawaka, President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) Gemunu Wijeratne, Sales Manager of the CPC S. M.C.C. Samarakoon and the head of the All Ceylon School Van Service Association L. Malsri de Silva.
