Leader of Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) and former MP Suresh Premachandran said during the secret ballot held in Parliament on 20 July to elect the new President, most of the Tamil political parties had been divided over the three candidates.
He stated that votes cast by the Tamil political parties have to be considered as an affront to the people of the Northern Province.
He made these comments during a press conference held in Jaffna on 24 July. He said that the immediate future of the Ranil Wickremesinghe-led Government would depend entirely on its ability to resolve the burning issues of the public.
Premachandran added the only solution to the burning issues of the country at the moment would be to set up an All-Party Government which could pave the way for seeking help from the international community.
