Presidential Secretariat resumes official activities

The operations of the Presidential Secretariat which had been at a standstill for about 100 days were resumed yesterday (25).

Following the protests staged in the close proximity of the Secretariat demanding former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down, the operations of Presidential Secretariat had been temporarily suspended.

The armed forces and the Police forcibly removed the tents erected near the Presidential Secretariat in the wee hours of 22 July, a day after Ranil Wickremesinghe was elected as the President.

However, the security of Secretariat and the surrounding areas have been beefed up deploying police and armed forces to prevent any unfavourable incidents.
