Manager of Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre (DDEC) Christy Wijeratne said yesterday (24) that a sufficient amount of vegetables and fruits are being brought to the centre from various parts of the country beginning 23July morning.
Wijeratne added that the supply of local and Upcountry vegetables and fruits to DDEC has been returning to normal in recent days.Due to the fuel crisis in the country, a small quantity of vegetables was brought to the centre in recent months.
Vegetables are brought to the DDEC from remote areas as well as the Central Hill Country due to special fuel supply initiatives.
The price of vegetables has dropped 30 to 40 per cent with the delivery of vegetables on a daily basis, the DDEC Manager added.
