The bullish run continued at the Colombo Stock Exchange for the fifth consecutive session on Thursday (21) as the benchmark index rose on a relatively lower turnover with continued foreign entry into the Bourse.
The benchmark All Share Price Index, which started the day at 7,712.08 points on Thursday (21), gained 0.39 per cent (24.29 points) to close the day at 7,736.37 points.
However, the S&P SL20, representing the top 20 companies traded on Colombo Bourse, which started at 2,477.81 points, lost 0.01 per cent (0.14 points) to close at 2,477.67 points.
The Colombo Stock Exchange saw a daily turnover of Rs 1.2 billion on Thursday (21), lower than Rs 1.3 billion recorded the previous day.
The Colombo Bourse witnessed a foreign inflow worth Rs 1 million on Thursday (21) as foreigners purchased shares worth Rs 21 million, as against sales worth Rs 20 million.
More than 71.1million shares changed hands on Thursday (21) during 15,991 trades that took place.
Shares of more than 240 companies were traded during the day, of which 98 emerged as winners ahead of 84 losers.
