Welfare for Police officers expanded


As per the advice of Minister of Public Security, Tiran Alles, decisions have been taken to expand the welfare of all Police officers.

Accordingly, the Cabinet has given approval to increase the monthly travel allowance paid to the Police officers from 14 to 21 days from 1 January 2023.

According to the Media Secretary of the Public Security Ministry, Cabinet has also approved the Minister’s proposal to establish a legal aid fund for the legal matters that the Police officers have to face while performing their duties. This fund is managed by a committee headed by the Inspector General of Police and, on the recommendations of the said committee, all Police officers can get legal aid, and if necessary, they can also get the support of a competent President’s Bar, it was stated.

Further, in case of provision of vehicles from Assistant Superintendent of Police to higher posts, the existing condition of vehicle ownership by the concerned Police officer or spouse is removed. (AK)
