An entertaining knock of 120* by Shezard Nizar helped Royal Masters to an exciting 2 wicket win over Emerging Masters in their Masters 30 overs cricket encounter played at the Royal College ground Colombo 7 recently.
Taking first lease of the wicket, Emerging Masters openers Chryshanth de Silva and Mahendra Arthanayake got the score board ticking with a solid partnership of 50, and with the fall of Chryshanth, Riyadh Fowzie joined Mahendra and took the total past the 100 mark. Fowzie stroked a gallant 50 and Mahendra a magnificent 38. Both players took a decision to retire to give a chance to other batters. Eranga with a quickfire 56* and Pujitha Gunawardena 15* saw them reach a challenging 231/3 in their 30 overs.
Chasing this daunting target, Royal Masters opener Shezard Nizar took up the challenge to score an entertaining knock of 120*, and useful contributions from Nuwan Perera, Dharsha Abeywardena, Amal Karunaratne along with Shyamal Perera who came in at the fall of the 8th wicket with the score 220 and supported Shezard Nizar to guide them to an exciting win with one over to spare.
Riyaz claimed 3 scalps and Riyadh Fowzie capped a find all-round performance by capturing 2 wickets.
