Listen to the people’s voice

Congratulating President-elect Ranil Wickremesinghe, MP Dullas Alahapperuma said he wished the latter would have a mind-set to listen to the voice of the people who are extremely disappointed at the moment.

Alahapperuma, who contested the poll held in Parliament yesterday (20), to elect a new President, said he did not enter politics with big dreams.

“We tried to introduce common people’s politics instead of politics of elite class in the country. That attempt failed. However, I have no personal grudges against anyone. I will never betray my faction. I am not a wealthy person. All I have is my principles and the honesty,” he said.

Speaking further, Alahappruma said the conduct of the politicians should be focused on re-establishing the credibility and the trust of the people.
